Max Levy grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and received his architecture degree from the University of California Berkeley. After working for AIA Gold Medalist Joseph Esherick in San Francisco, and SOM in Chicago, he established his own small studio in Dallas in 1984. Over the years the animating principle of his work has been this: that architecture has a marvellous capacity to reframe our awareness of nature in ways that can bring a bit of relief to our hectic lives. Through it all he has maintained faith in the power of drawing, writing, and model-making to deepen one’s work.
