This episode we’re joined by Nicole Blair, one of the architects featured on the AIA Austin Homes Tour 2020.
Nicole Blair was born in Austin, Texas, in 1974. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Textiles and Apparel from Cornell University in 1996 and worked in the NYC offices of Robert A.M. Stern and Peter Eisenman Architects before returning to Texas and receiving her Master of Architecture from Rice University. In 2004, she founded Studio 512, an award-winning architecture and construction firm in Austin.
Blair's work has been published extensively, notably her 2015 project The Hive, which was featured in Architectural Record and her 2018 project Lincoln Chapel, which was featured on the cover of Texas Architect. Studio 512 has won AIA awards at both the state and local level and the firm was longlisted for a Dezeen international design award. In 2019, the Texas Society of Architects named Studio 512 one of 10 Emerging Practices to watch, and Blair was included in Elle Decor Magazine's A-list of Architecture as one of the 18 greatest living architects in the world alongside several Pritzker Prize winners.
