As the Founder & Director of KWD, Kate Walker heads up the custom design studio she launched in 2013. Having worked in the tile industry for over 15 years, she identified the need for a streamlined solution for busy people who require support with their complete hard-finish requirements.

With entrepreneurial skills in her DNA, the business grew quickly and organically. KWD now has an extensive network of manufacturers, importers and trades. Kate recently expanded her portfolio to include KWD & Co, an online hard finishes portal, and KWD Access - a platform that makes interior design accessible to anyone, on any budget.

Kate's dynamic team has grown exponentially over the last 12 months. The 20 incredible women she employs are project managers, interior designers and design professionals who manage more than 70 design projects each year.

Having established a strong and genuine reputation in the design community, Kate has gained respect for her innate talent to translate a design vision from concept

to reality - to match any client’s budget and across any aesthetic. Her ever-growing social media following is testament to the genuine sharing of design advice and inspiration she offers on her Instagram and Facebook pages. And her loyal tribe not only love the designs she creates, they love to know all about her lifestyle, her passions, her family and her wardrobe!

Kate Walker has been profiled in many leading magazines and blogs, and KWD’s work has been featured in Australia’s leading interior magazines including Belle, Home Beautiful, Inside Out, Grand Designs Australia and House & Garden (including four front cover stories). Her work has also been published in Homes & Gardens UK.

With many years of design experience across every design aesthetic, Kate can appreciate what it takes to make a home successful in terms of livability and functionality. She understands space planning, joinery, hard finishes, textures, lighting, furniture, flooring and soft furnishings, colour palettes, art and the decorative touches that make a house a home. Kate's experience and knowledge as a design expert and her authentic and engaging personality will offer TV viewers a fresh, authentic and inspiring insight into the world of design.
